The Great and Powerful Formally Known as Twitter

Twitter is a terrifying monster populated by the craziest, most unhinged people in the universe. Naturally, I created a new twitter account for this blog. Brand spanking new. Two days old as of this writing. I will not be referring to it as X. That’s ridiculous. All of us social media savvy users know that the first thing you do is try to curate a home feed that doesn’t make you want to crawl into a hole and wait for the sweet release of death. Unless that’s your thing. No judgement.

First of all, twitter decided that it would suggest only terrible options to follow. Crypto is trending again. I thought that we had collectively decided to put it out of its misery. Like a zombie, it rose from the ashes to demand I follow 75 accounts. It was more work than it should have been to get to interesting content. And the crypto is still showing up in my feed like the unwanted spam that it is. At least my recommendations have improved. Marginally.

Finally, amongst my people, I saw this tweet (Sidenote: what the heck are we supposed to call that in X vernacular? Exed? IDK that sounds threatening):

My mind is blown Mirriam Webster. What do you mean the -‘s is standard! I have never seen that in my life I swear. It feels like everything I was ever taught in school is a damn lie. Remember when they told us about tongue mapping and how different parts of your tongue taste different things? That’s nonsense! Not true at all. Something we all knew as we tried to stick spicy foods on the umami receptors and still lit our mouths on fire.

Turns out that even in this garbage dump of an internet age we can still use the world wide web to learn things!
