My Weekend is Booked – Beheadings, Ghosts in the Wall and Evil Monkey Toys?

Guys, Friday is freaking finally here. I don’t know about you, but this has been the weekest of weeks. Every day is a new terror. That’s what they say, right? I hope you all have incredible weekend plans, or more incredibly have absolutely nothing to do and can stay at home reading in your favorite reading outfit. Oh, you don’t have one of those? You should get one. This is mine. I have the blue one because it’s my favorite color, and it stands out, so no one accidentally sits on me when I’ve been still for hours. I hear tale they make ones you can fit your pet into the pocket of.

Speaking of pets… My amazing, one kidney having intersex, benign tumor ridden puppy Jules decided yesterday was the time to get into a little home surgery. Let me just say I woke up to a horror scene. See, she has this tumor above her eye, but given the location and that it isn’t hurting her, the vet has said we should leave it alone. She has lots of tumors like this, but this one is just the most obvious. Now she has never seemed bothered by it. It’s a little odd, but so is Jules. Girly (we just go with that because when we got her they said she was a girl) has a psuedopenis and ovesticles she doesn’t like to be average. She was born to stand out. So yesterday I wake up and my bedspread has all these little spots of blood. Okay, not great, but she has been known to break open the tumor on the side of her head by pissing off the cat or by misjudging the location of the dog door, and there wasn’t a lot of blood. We worked with the vet to patch it up and I figured maybe the scab broke open and i just needed to clean and re-bandage it. Then I saw the doggie stairs. (Small note: Kevin thinks it’s insane that I have these. I think the dogs need to be able to get into the bed without wiping out like terrible parkour artists. He says they’ll learn and stay on the floor. I find this callous. Back to the steps.) Just red all over the sides. I’m not good at 7 am. Now I’m in a panic that something is terribly wrong. But then. I see Jules. The eye tumor is GONE! Girl just took it off for some reason, and somehow. I cleaned the area but couldn’t really patch it and she is fine. We are all very confused. The tumor, as of now, has not been found. I hope no animals ate it. Eww.

Have any of you seen SIX the Musical? Go. You should have already seen it. It is AMAZING! This weekend I will watch my youngest, D, and a group of 8 to 12-year-olds perform it. Didn’t Henry execute 2 wives, cheat on all of them and act like a general misogynist scumbag all the time? Why yes, he did. How did they make this child friendly? I have no idea. If you haven’t heard the Katherine Howard song, check it out and ponder with me how on God’s green earth they modified that one.

I’m planning to hit up the new Stephen King movie, The Monkey this weekend, so look for a review of that movie and how it differs from the short story next week. My eldest has a huge crush on the main character played by Theo James. A beautiful crossover of her favorite genre and the joy of sexy men old enough to be her father. Blah. I swear I thought like JTT was hot when I was 14. He isn’t even that much older than me. Kids. these. days.

Just look at him, pure attraction, I mean the monkey, of course.

I’m finishing up Something In the Walls. This mystery/horror releases Tuesday and damn, is it getting to me. I’m pretty jaded. Honestly. I watch, read, and play too much horror to be easily spooked but woo. I was reading on my kindle, in the dark, in the car alone in a parking lot, while waiting to pick up G from dance last night. I just hung out and read the whole time and everyone else has a life so there were no people around until pickup time. There was a line that sent a shiver down my spine and had me peeking over the top of my book for creepers watching me. I didn’t see any, but creepers are known for their sneakiness. The full review will be out next week. Assuming whatever is spooking around in the book doesn’t kill me.

Make sure you have something good to read this weekend. I hear the weather, at least in large chunks or the US, is going to be horrible. Best to stay home. *Amazon links are affiliate
